Take a look at the flyer below I received in the mail today from LASD Parents for Great Schools (which Doug Smith helpfully pointed out is essentially a pro-charter PAC funded by Bullis Charter School disciples and their ilk). Despite the fact that Martha sends all three of her daughters to Bullis Charter School, and she—according to her own poltical campaign web site— is the "Treasurer and Board Member of the Bullis-Purissima Elementary School Foundation", this flyer makes no mention of her BCS enmeshment. Martha severed her ties with the Los Altos School District years ago when she pulled her last child out of Oak to send her to BCS.
Of particular note is that the return address for this organization is not even within the LASD attendance boundary. That's right: LASD Parents for Great Schools is in the section of Los Altos Hills that belongs to the Palo Alto School District. More damning, this is the address for a Mr. David Spector, who is (in his own words):
"I am a parent of two daughters, both of whom graduated from Bullis Charter School. Since 2005, I have been involved with Bullis in various capacities, including the Bullis Finance Committee, Bullis-Purissima Elementary School Foundation, Proposition 39 negotiations and the Bullis ad hoc legal committee. Most recently, I served as a Bullis representative in mediation with the Los Altos School District."
This is a group funded and run by BCS and charter school proponents who are trying to deceive the uninformed voter that they are associated with and therefore have the tacit approval of LASD staff and parents. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Thankfully, we live in a town of very well educated people, who I am confident are too smart to fall for such a ruse. Please, if you are reading this, get out and vote for true LASD champions [Logan, Peruri, and Ivanovic] on Tuesday. And please, please, PLEASE pass this message onto your friends and neighbors.
And don't forget to vote YES on Measure N.
